DOUG BANKS RADIO PERSONALITY WVAZ DIES 57 BY TRICIA ROBINSON CLUB MATRIX 360

Philadelphia-born, Detroit raised Doug Banks radio personality WVAZ Chicago dies at 57 his cause of death isn't known however many speculate it was due to kidney issues. Doug Banks had just attended The Black Women's Expo Chicago and his doctors in Florida got worried when he did not check in after he attended The Black Women's Expo. Doug Banks, had been a pioneer in radio for approximately three decades, he got his start as a high school radio personality and later branched out into mainstream radio working for several radio stations including WBMX Chicago where Chicagoans know him for introducing the famous house music DJs Mickey Mixing Oliver and The Hot Mix Five who often mixed during his midday radio show. The popular and hilarious Dj Doug Banks launched The Doug Banks Show co-hosted by the beautiful and intellectual De De McGuire the two held down the afternoons often coming up with innovative and unique ways to entertain their audiences in different cities. Doug Banks, like Tom Joyner was a veteran radio personality who dabbled in television co-hosting 190 North with Chicago socialite scene queen Janet Davis the pair ignited Sunday nights on fire taking Chicagoans on a tour of the hottest clubs, restaurants, and vacation spots in Chicago and it's neighboring suburbs. Doug Banks is survived by his wife Wendy Banks and his four children he will always remain an inspiration to many radio and television personalities that he has influenced for decades.
